Public and Private

Look - if you insist on having your private conversation in a public location, don’t get all miffed when people listen in. Yes, I’m talking to you:

People gossiping in the hallway

People talking loudly on your cell phones

People standing just outside my cube

And I reserve the right to stare at you intently as I pay careful attention to your conversation. A bit disconcerting for you? Perhaps - as uncomfortable as it is for everyone else around you who has to try to pretend they can’t hear you blathering on about how much you drank last night and what you might have done? Probably not.
